At that point, autosaves are (I assume I didn't want to risk checking) no longer functioning as corrected, and the Save & Quit button does nothing when clicked the only way to make saving work again is to move to a new island. Going to a new island resets the saving process to function as normal, but inevitably, after a certain number of days (I'd say somewhere between 7 and 15) the game hangs on saving.
